On November 18, 2021,  our third - graders traveled to Hawk Mountain Sanctuary, a global raptor conservation, to learn about the importance of protecting birds of prey.

Hawk Mountain uses a local-to-global approach in conservation, seeking to educate the public and conserve raptors in the immediate area as well as across the country and the world.  Currently, Hawk Mountain protects 2,600 acres of land in Eastern Pennsylvania.  While our third-graders visited Hawk Mountain, they hiked to the North Lookout (elevation 1521 ft.) in hopes of spotting a raptor, eagle, or hawk.  Back at the education center, they learned about migration patterns, got to meet a red tailed hawk, and were able to touch and hold bird skeletons and talons.
