Sixth grade students recently traveled to Sand Island in Bethlehem, PA for a Bike and Boat adventure.
The outdoor education program partners with the Wildlands Conservancy for many different opportunities to bring our Swain students varying outdoor experiences. Recently, our sixth grade friends traveled to Sand Island, Bethlehem for a bike and boat adventure. They biked 4.5 miles along the canal towpath from Sand Island in Bethlehem to Canal Park in Allentown. Partners then worked together to canoe a section of the canal. Students had to rely on good communication with their partner to navigate the waters. They biked back to Sand Island and wrapped up the trip by skipping stones in the river.
The weather was perfect and there were lots of turtles, birds, and wildlife spotted during the trip. Overall it was a beautiful day and fun was had by all.
