The 8th Grade Handbell Ensemble recently traveled to the Malmark Bellcraftsmen Factory in Plumsteadville.
This field trip offered a captivating glimpse into the world of English handbells, crafted with precision and passion the Malmark way.
Upon arrival, the students were immersed in the history of English handbells. The factory tour, guided by the skilled craftspeople, showcased the meticulous process from raw materials to the final, polished product. Witnessing this craftsmanship up close and interacting with workers left a impact on the students.
A highlight of the day was the hands-on experience in the showroom, where students eagerly explored and played with the various bells—many of which aren’t part of their Middle School set. The experimentation time resonated with the students, deepening their appreciation for these musical instruments.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Malmark Bellcraftsmen Factory for opening their doors and allowing our students to have this experience. Their dedication to preserving the art of handbell making has left an mark on our young musicians.
