A Special Visit from Benigna Zinzendorf

In Pre-k we teach how Countess Benigna started our school a long time ago. We also teach some other facts or traditions as an introduction to the history of Moravian Academy. Our school's birthday is celebrated, usually with a cake, at snack time.

Ann has been dressing up in a costume from the Moravian Museum as Benigna for many years. In a "normal" year we would take a bus out to Benigna House on the upper campus. Ann would surprise us at the doorway greeting us as brothers and sisters. The house would be described to us as it used to be, and she would question new paintings and furniture. Ann would ask about the big yellow thing we rode in, and then she would talk about walking and riding horses to get places. She asks the children what all of the modern gadgets are, and she explains to them how it was back in her day. she has always had a lot of fun with the little ones.
