April Celebrations and Observations

April is a significant month for so many across the world. It is a time of renewal, growth, acceptance, and celebration. 


Month-long Observances

Arab American Heritage Month is an annual observance that takes place in April to celebrate Arab American heritage and culture. It honors the contributions of Arab Americans and Arabic-speaking Americans to the wider American community. 

Autism Acceptance Month, formerly known as Autism Awareness Month, aims to celebrate and promote acceptance and inclusion of those with autism. 

 

Diversity Month started in 2004 as a way to embrace our differences, be it gender, race, ethnicity, faith, sexual orientation, or other factors. 

Important Calendar Dates

April 5-13 - This year, Passover is observed from the evening of April 5, 2023, to the evening of Thursday, April 13, 2023. Passover, or Pesach in Hebrew, is an important part of the Jewish faith, commemorating their freedom from slavery in ancient Egypt.

April 9th - Easter, the most important holy day throughout Christianity, celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ. 



April 21st - Eid-al-Fitr is a widely celebrated Muslim festival that is commemorated after the end of the Holy month of Ramadan when Muslims fast from sunrise until sunset. Eid al-Fitr is also known as the ‘Festival of Breaking Fast.’
