On Saturday, December 7, three new members were inducted into the Moravian Academy Athletic Hall of Fame.

The Hall of Fame was created in 2015 to honor past exemplary student-athletes, teams, coaches, faculty, staff, and friends who have brought distinction through athletics to Moravian Academy and themselves.

Congratulations to this year's inductees Andrew "Drew Balshi '05, Debbie Bross, and Maureen Mahlman '96!

Once dubbed by The Morning Call as “one of the area’s finest overall athletes,” Drew Balshi '05 was a three-sport athlete at Moravian Academy (basketball, tennis, golf) and has the distinction of being our second male 1,000+ point scorer. This versatile athlete has many athletic accolades, including four District titles. He was a member of the 2002 boys’ tennis state championship team, and was the 2005 state doubles champ with partner Eric Bourassa ‘05. He continued his athletic career on the varsity tennis team at Lehigh University.

Debbie Bross arrived at Moravian Academy in 1981 to teach physical education and was soon charged with bolstering a fledgling field hockey program. Under Coach Bross, Moravian Academy field hockey teams won over 500 games and brought home two state championships, first in 1984 and again in 2016. Her 37-year tenure also includes coaching teams to five Colonial League titles and 6 District XI titles. Ask Debbie what she is most proud of, though, and you are bound to hear about the people her students have grown into and what contributions they make to their communities.

Maureen Mahlman '96 was a three-sport athlete at Moravian Academy (tennis, basketball, softball), who is remembered by teammates and coaches alike for her drive and determination. She scored her 1000th point during girls' basketball Districts her senior year, ending with 1007 career points. As a softball captain, she helped lead the young team to their first undefeated season, as well as the Penn Jersey championship. She continued her athletic career at Drew University, playing varsity softball and basketball.
