Congratulations to Maya Ettle '20 for reaching the 1,000-point milestone!  Last Friday, Maya became the sixth girls’ basketball player in Moravian Academy history to accomplish this significant feat.

The girls’ basketball team has had a busy week. With last night’s victory over Southern Lehigh by a decisive 49-27 score, their record now stands at 13-4. The team has clinched a District XI playoff spot and currently sits in 2nd place in the East Division of the Colonial League and third overall.  The team will travel to Pleasant Valley on Saturday for a non-league contest before traveling to Bangor in a crucial Colonial League match-up.

We will also take the opportunity to celebrate our seniors (Maya, Grace Moser '20, Quinn O’Connor '20) and their families on Friday, January 31st before the varsity game at 6:45 pm.  Congratulations also to Quinn for being selected as The Morning Call’s Athlete of the Week

The boys’ basketball team saw their nine-game winning streak come to an end last night as they were defeated by Southern Lehigh.  The Lions will look to rebound quickly as they travel to Wilson for a difficult Colonial League game. Earlier in the year, the team beat Wilson at home by a 73-71 result.  The boys’ record currently stands at 12-4 and they have also qualified for the District XI playoffs. They will return home on Tuesday as they face Bangor in an important league game.  We will also take some time to recognize our six seniors (Abe Atiyeh '20, Navin Ferrari '20, Jagger Hornik '20, Tyler Joseph '20, Jai Kandola '20, and Willem Parent '20) and their families on Thursday, January 30th before their home contest vs. Notre Dame of East Stroudsburg.

Our swimmers returned to the pool this past Wednesday at they traveled to Quakertown.  Both teams came home with victories with the girls’ team winning by a 98-70 margin while the boys also getting a positive result by 89-78 score. With three out of four remaining meets at home, the swimmers will look to solidify their spots in the District Championships.

Good luck to all of the athletes as they continue the winter season!  Please stay up to date with our teams by following them on the moravianathletics.org site.

Go Lions!
