Soccer teams win District XI titles!
It was an exciting week of soccer for our boys’ and girls’ teams! The Varsity Boys’ soccer team easily qualified for the District Finals by defeating Minersville by a score of 6-1. The Varsity Girls’ soccer team beat a pesky Catasauqua team by a 2-1 score to also advance to the District Finals. Thursday, November 1st proved to be a historic night for our boys’ and girls’ soccer teams.
The Varsity Girls’ defeated defending District champion, Minersville, by a score of 2-1 and earning their first District Title in program history. Maddie Tran ’19 scored the eventual game-winner late in the 2nd half to secure the win. Chloe Oudin ’22 opened up the score 1 minute and 13 seconds in the first half for the Lions. The team will now compete in the PIAA State Championship. The first round is set for Tuesday, November 6th at a site yet to be determined.
The Varsity Boys’ beat Notre Dame of East Stroudsburg in the nightcap by a score of 1-0 to earn their 6th consecutive District Title. Austin Recinos ’20 scored the only goal of the night in the first half. The Lions were able to keep the lead through the game although playing short for the entire 2nd half. The Boys’ soccer team will also play in the PIAA State Championship. Their first round will also take place on Tuesday, November 6th at a site to be determined.
