To conclude our reading of Mohsin Hamid's Exit West and our course's theme of "Borders and Belonging," the Global Literature class zoomed with Lauren Gerber '18MA this week.
Lauren is a Senior at Boston University, pursuing a major in International Affairs with a minor in Mathematics. She is particularly interested in understanding Foreign Policy and Global Security. Lauren is currently studying abroad in Stockholm, Sweden with DIS, and is focusing on European Security dilemmas and its effects on Swedish politics.
We discussed a variety of topics ranging from NATO, the current Russian threat to Sweden, to the oil pipeline in Europe, and the refugee crisis in Sweden, Norway, and in the EU. During this semester, our class is understanding more and more about the nuanced and conflict-ridden subjects of immigration, border security, and human rights/belonging.
We thank Lauren for taking time out of her busy schedule to speak with us and provide us with a unique perspective of the issues of our course!
