Joyful music, beeswax candles, and the timeless story of Christmas retold…. Mark your calendars now for our annual Christmas Vespers services, one of our most beloved Moravian traditions.
A live Upper School Vespers Service will take place in Central Moravian Church at 7:00 PM on Thursday, December 9. Tickets will become available Monday, November 29.
This service will be modified to meet our current Health and Safety standards but will include all the hallmarks of a classic Christmas Vespers, including candles, Morning Star, and the music of our Merle-Smith voice and bell choirs. Masks will be required for everyone present and attendance will be limited to maintain social distance. The service will also be live-streamed via YouTube, and a video will be available on Vimeo after the event. Moravian Academy Chorale, Chamber Singers, Coda Red, Handbell Ensemble, and Ringers will lead the service.
A Downtown Campus Vespers Service will be pre-recorded and streamed during Lower and Middle School Chapel on Wednesday, December 15, at 9:30 AM. It will feature all Downtown students in Grades 1-5, as well as 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade students in Chorus, String Orchestra, and Handbell Ensembles. Families and friends are invited to join us virtually. A link will be provided in advance, and a video will be available on Vimeo after the event. While we look forward to returning to a live and in-person service in the future, a virtual service this year keeps our younger students as safe as possible, many of whom have not yet been able to receive a vaccine, and allows family members and friends to enjoy the service.
We hope you will join us for one or both of these events, and look forward to ringing in the holiday season together, or together in spirit.
