The Moravian Academy DECA chapter competed in District Competition this Tuesday, December 14, at Lehigh Carbon Community College.
Out of a competitive field of over 280 participants from District 7, the Moravian participants did exceptionally well.
All district competitors take a 100-question exam that counts for one-third of their overall score a week prior to districts. On the day of the event, they are given role-play assignments and have 10 minutes to prepare their presentations before a DECA judge. While the stress is high, our teams handled it with amazing competence and cool!
Every competitor on the Moravian Academy DECA team placed in the district competition this year. Below is a list of the competitors and their awards.
- Vince Menichelli ‘22 and Samit Mohapatra ‘22 - Financial Services Team Decision Making -1st Place
- Natalie Kislin ‘25 - Entrepreneurship Team Decision Making- 1st Place. (Rowan Taylor ‘25 will compete with Natalie at States.)
- Abby Aemisegeo ‘25 - Principles of Marketing- 3rd place
- Oliver Xia ‘25 - principles of business management - 3rd place
- Melanie-Rose Wentum ‘25 - principles of marketing - 5th place
- Diya Sharma ‘24 - principles of business management, 4th place
- Brian Yang ‘25 - Principles of Finance - 5th place
- Grayson Domzalski ‘25 - Principles of Finance - 2nd place
Next up is the state competition that will be held in Hershey, PA during a three-day event at the end of February. Because of their success at districts, all MA DECA students will advance to the state competition.
