On October 13, 2022 students on the Merle-Smith, Downtown, and Swain Campus were treated to a traditional Mexican dish of Chicken Tinga and were able to experience the flavors of hispanic culture during Hispanic Heritage Month.
In collaboration with Spanish teachers Señor Fleming and Señora Ordonez, Director of Dining Operations Mr. Ben Leffler brainstormed and created a menu that would reflect Latin American culture and also be accessible for everyone who wanted to try something new. The complete menu included:
- Chicken Tinga
- Jackfruit Tinga
- Yucca Fries
- Plantains
- Chicken Tortilla
- Churros
Celebrating and exposing different cuisines to our schools is important in learning different diverse cultures. This is always a fun educational experience for our dining team and the school. We learn how to make different foods from different cultures and our guests are rewarded with getting to eat it!
Also who doesn't like churros? Fried doughnuts in any shape or form is always a crowd favorite.
