Elyse McGovern Appointed Director of Enrollment Management
I am thrilled to announce the appointment of Ms. Elyse McGovern, M.Ed., as the new Director of Enrollment Management at Moravian Academy. Elyse will officially join our team on February 5, 2024.
Elyse has a wealth of experience and a proven track record in admissions and enrollment management. She comes to MA from Lehigh Carbon Community College where she served as the Director of Admissions and Placement. A seasoned leader with deep knowledge of the Lehigh Valley and surrounding areas, Elyse previously held key positions in the admissions offices of Kutztown, DeSales, and East Stroudsburg Universities. In addition to this experience, her exposure to diverse populations gained through service to AmeriCorps aligns seamlessly with our commitment to fostering an inclusive community of belonging.
She holds a Master of Education in Student Affairs in Higher Education from Kutztown University and a Bachelor of Arts in Theological Studies from DeSales University.
It quickly became apparent to the hiring committee that Elyse is a team-player with a dynamic approach to decision-making, a vibrant energy, and a collaborative spirit, whose knowledge and character make her an excellent fit to lead enrollment efforts and fulfill our mission.
Karen Mitton, whose leadership as the Interim Director of Enrollment Management has been invaluable, will resume her role as Director of Admissions on the Swain Campus. We look forward to her continued success in fostering positive relationships with prospective students and their families, and I extend to her my heartfelt gratitude.
Additionally, I am pleased to announce that Danielle Koren, who has been serving as our Interim Director of Admissions on the Swain Campus, will now bring her skills and enthusiasm to the Merle-Smith Campus. After 13 years of dedicated service to Moravian Academy, Marla Strohl has announced her retirement, and Danielle will assume the role of Upper School Office and Special Projects Manager. She has demonstrated exceptional organizational abilities and a keen understanding of the admissions landscape. We are confident that she will excel in her new role, providing crucial support to the Merle-Smith team and helping to ensure the smooth operation of administrative functions. Please join me in wishing Marla the best in retirement and congratulating Danielle on her new role!
As we undergo these transitions, there is no doubt that the collective expertise of our admissions team will strengthen our school. Elyse will join Ingrid Gerber, Kevin DeCusatis, and Karen Mitton, an incredible team unmatched in their ability to welcome families to MA and build community on each campus. The work they do is essential to our mission. Thank you for your ongoing commitment to the success and growth of Moravian Academy.
