Faculty and assistant coach of the varsity boys soccer team at Moravian Academy, Fernando Carrizo will attend and present at the United Soccer Coaches Convention from January 11-15, 2023.
"Friday morning, on January 13th at 9:15, I presented a training session with Eastern Pennsylvania players and some Moravian Academy players on the boys' side to do a nice one-hour training session," Fernando says. "I was excited. A little nervous, but super excited and looking forward to it."
Fernando, who has been coaching youth and semi-pro soccer for over 25 years, presented a "Passing/Receiving" clinic, instructing participants on first touch, proper technique with both feet, opening up the body to receive the ball, communication, weight of the pass, and work rate.
"It's a lot of learning and networking, of course, but just to be in front of a lot of Division I, II and III college coaches and club coaches to do a presentation? I'm honored," he says.
The Lions on the boys varsity soccer team are fortunate to receive his high-caliber training as part of their athletics experience. In addition to his duties as assistant coach, Fernando runs his own training program Futbol De Carrizo Academia and typically hosts soccer camps for Moravian Academy students of all ages as part of our Summer Explorations summer camp program.
