Fifth Grade Visits Ellis Island

November 14, 2019

The fifth-grade field trip to the Ellis Island National Museum of Immigration was a fun culmination to their weeks of studying The Gilded Age, immigration past and present, and child labor.

Students led their small groups with chaperones through the three floors and many interactive exhibits. They recorded their reflections, questions and drawings in their Curiosity Journals. They also made several remote recordings for MABC, which the Lower School will see in the coming weeks, highlighting what the students found most interesting, in Spanish and English.

These remote reporters also interviewed some of the visitors of the museum, in Spanish and English, about what Ellis Island means to them as well. The weather cooperated for the group, allowing for many photo mementos of our time together.

Thanks to all families, staff, teachers and administration who helped make this educational trip happen
