Last week, while studying about Native American culture and traditions, members of our Pre-K class learned about the importance of beads.
Beads were used as a form of currency and when used in jewelry or to adorn clothing, different patterns had different meanings.
Pre-K spent time making their own bead bracelets using patterns that represented fire, house, or trail. They laid out their beads in the pattern they selected, then took time, and lots of fine motor skills, to thread the beads onto string. The finished products were a beautiful representation of Native American culture and they were so proud of the work they did.
