First grade had a lot to teach their second-grade friends during the recent Expert Fair!
For the concluding project of our units of study for nonfiction books, first-graders researched a nonfiction book at their reading level that piqued their interest. They became experts on their topic of choice. After reading the book, they wrote down five facts to share and created a poster with a diagram of their topic, containing captions and headings. Then, after practicing with their classmates, they shared their expertise at our Expert's Fair with the second graders.
