To what extent is violence inevitably a part of revolutions? When do revolutions end? These are some of the fundamental questions that students in World History II have been investigating throughout our unit on revolutions and through their own research of case studies of different world revolutions in history.
Students have examined a wide range of revolutions ranging from the Great Jamaican Revolt to the Taiping Rebellion and from the Indian Rebellion of 1857 to the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917. In their research, they not only developed a basic understanding of what happened during the revolution but also its larger significance within the place where it happened and broader world history.
