The Downtown Campus will once again participate in the Holiday Hope Chest program.
Sixth-grade will be overseeing a Downtown Campus service project in partnership with The Volunteer Center of Lehigh Valley, which organizes the annual Holiday Hope Chest program.
In this program, winter-themed wrapped boxes are filled with suggested items (listed below) and gifted to homeless and disadvantaged school-age youth in the Lehigh Valley. Since 2000, the Downtown Campus has donated 2,024 boxes. This year, Lehigh Valley non-profit organizations are requesting over 10,000 boxes for children. Our Downtown Campus goal is to fill 350 boxes of joy for others!
We are requesting donations of:
regular-size shoeboxes with a separate lid
winter-themed rolls of gift wrap
decorated photo or memory boxes
In addition to boxes and gift wrap, please see the list below for other items we request to fill the boxes. Additional suggestions can be found here.
Items can be brought in by your child or directly mailed to 11 W. Market St. Collection boxes can be found in each lobby on the Downtown Campus: One in the Lower School Main building, one in the lobby of the CE building, one in the Downstairs Kindergarten classroom, one in the upstairs entrance to Pre-K and SIP Kindergarten, and at each entry door for middle schoolers.
The deadline for donations is Monday, November 8, 2021.
Sixth-graders will begin sorting, wrapping, and filling shoeboxes as the items are donated. As a safety measure, donated items will initially remain untouched for 48 hours.
Thank you in advance for your support in providing “happiness in a shoebox” to as many children as possible! If you have any questions, please contact Andriana Turcotte at aturcotte@mamail.net.
