Students in Honors Chemistry were challenged with exploring the reactivity of metals in the periodic table.
After comparing the reactivity of calcium and magnesium in an acidic solution, students then compared the relative reactivity of four alkaline earth metals through a series of double replacement reactions. Using their data from the lab, students will go on to determine and argue about the periodicity of metal reactivity and connect these arguments back to other periodic trends from our class discussions.
