Janicca Covington Shares Black History with the Swain Campus
Janicca Covington, parent of Bella Covington '32 and Maxwell Covington '35, showcases Black History by installing an exhibit in Rogers' Common and presenting in town hall meetings throughout Black History Month.
Janicca created beautiful bulletin board exhibits to showcase what Black History is, its importance, and highlight some of the key figures/movements that have been significant in Black History.
In addition to creating these bulletin boards, Janicca presented on Black History at town hall meetings. All students in preschool through eighth grade enjoyed the presentation that included a short video clip, a live presentation of an artistic expression (singing, dancing, or poetry), and learned about traditional foods within the African American Community.
Thank you so much to Janicca for sharing her joy and helping our community honor its commitment to an environment of equity and belonging.
