Last week, our kindergarten classes visited the Allentown Art Museum as part of our Art unit. The museum's Arte En EspaƱol program offered students the opportunity to experience the artwork and the museum space in two languages.
Students listened to a story, which included lessons on basic Spanish vocabulary, and reviewed the concepts through song and movement. Afterwards, students participated in a related short arts and crafts activity, which reinforced concepts they learned.
During our visit, we were able to tour one of the new exhibits and learned about the use of color and materials when making art, the process of printmaking, and how some artists use apprentices and studios to create works of art.
