Moravian Academy alumni power our community. Recently, Lauren Calabrese '03 MA, alumna, parent, and former head girls' varsity soccer coach at MA, has been named head soccer coach for Lehigh University.
According to Lehigh University, Calabrese has had a track record of success as an athlete and coach that led her to this well-deserved achievement. As a soccer player for Lehigh from 2003-2006, she was a four-year starter and second team All-League honoree in 2003, currently fifth in the university's history with 13 career assists.
She is no stranger to our school. Before Lehigh, she played and coached soccer at Moravian Academy, where her son is currently a student. She formed meaningful relationships with people throughout our community. She told lehighvalleylive.com:
"Moravian’s an incredible place,” Calabrese said. “My son’s there now. He’s 5. It’s really an amazing community. I learned the value of how to cultivate meaningful relationships, how to set goals for yourself, the process of learning and growing. Moravian, Lehigh, it’s really competitive in terms of people having ambitions and drives to succeed. It’s navigating how do you do that. I think our women are very similar. My life experiences have been similar. Some of my best memories happened from growing up and going through Moravian. Debbie Bross was my field hockey coach. She was a legend over at Moravian. Just had such an impact on me as a player. Manny Oudin coached me at Moravian and was actually the head coach at Lehigh. That’s one of the reasons why I played at Lehigh because my high school coach became my college coach at Lehigh...
We are so proud of Lauren and the impact she is making on collegiate athletics in the Lehigh Valley. Her success goes to show the power of relationships at Moravian. Once you're a Lion, you're a Lion forever.
