Swain third grade continues their study of the Lenape people by learning about their food history, specifically maple and other tree syrups.
Once the syrups were boiled and cooled, the class was ready to sample the syrup! Add in fluffy pancakes and pajamas and you the a recipe for the perfect syrup tasting!
Syrup Batch 1 - Collected from a tree on Mr. Sauers property, this syrup was light in flavor and color. It was slightly over cooked, formed sugar crystals, and resembled the flavor and look of honey.
Syrup Batch 2 - True maple syrup collected from a Swain Campus Maple Tree. Rich maple syrup color and flavor.
Syrup Batch 3 - Collected from a walnut tree on the Swain Campus this syrup had a dark color with a sweet and nutty flavor. By far the grade favorite!
