Physical education for grades 6-8 has been off to a great start as we are working on team-building activities.
Students were engaged in two different games: "bowling pin travel" and completing an obstacle course. Students needed to use communication, leadership, and a bit of creativity to work out how to travel from one end of the gym to the other.
The first challenge entails bringing a bowling pin from one end of the gym to the other without dropping it on the floor. The pin must travel in the air and everybody must be holding the rope. It takes great balance and a steady hand.
During the obstacle course, the floor was lava. Students needed to use the equipment to travel across the lava. It took team planning and a great deal of strategy to figure out the best way to get their team across the gym.
Students had a blast while working with each other to come up with creative solutions to these team-building activities.
