MA DECA Chapter Members Qualify for International Competition

Members of the Moravian Academy chapter of District 7, PA DECA joined over 3,500 high school business, finance, hospitality and marketing students at the annual Association Career Development Conference held February 22-24 at The Hershey Lodge in Hershey, Pennsylvania.


The chapter from Moravian Academy had 57 total competitors with 14 qualifying for International Competition in Orlando (scoring in the top 4 in the State). This indicates that 25% of our DECA participants qualified for advanced competition - eligible now to compete with the best in the world!

The following students received recognition for individual and team ability and achievement at the state level:

  • Sunny Chen '24 & Krish Gupta '24 - Independent Business Plan - fourth place
  • Katie Lu '24 & Lena Nifong '24 - Franchise Business Plan - fourth place
  • Okezue Bell '23 & Wisdom Ufondu '23 - Innovation Plan - fourth place
  • Rayna Malhotra '24, Ginevra Toso '24 & Kanchan Gupta '24 - International Business Plan - fourth place
  • Roshen Gandotra '23 & Ria Gandotra '26 - Project Management Sales Project - fourth place
  • Emma Xu '25 & Abby Dubow '25 - Integrated Marketing Campaign - fourth place
  • Laura Li '26 - Principles of Hospitality & Tourism - fourth place
  • Jake Welton '26 - honorable mention - top score in role-play, Principles of Finance

These students will advance to international level competition at the DECA International Career Development Conference that will be held April 22-25, 2023, in Orlando, Fl.

DECA’s industry-validated competitive events are aligned with the National Curriculum Standards in the career clusters of marketing, business management and administration, finance, and hospitality and tourism. DECA’s competitive events directly contribute to every student being college and career ready when they graduate from high school. More than 200 business professionals evaluated the members’ performance in the format of role-plays, case studies and prepared presentations.

Moravian’s DECA chapter has continued to grow over the past three years and the level of competence, ingenuity, and professionalism is amazing. All of those who attended States this year should be proud of the hard work they put in this year.
