On the morning of Tuesday, December 17th, the 7th and 8th Grade Handbell Choirs departed school for our first program at Gracedale Nursing Home in Nazareth. Upon completing our presentation there, our next stop was the Adult Day Care of the Bethlehem YWCA. Afterward, we continued to the Moravian Village of Bethlehem to repeat our program once again.
The groups then returned to the Middle School in the afternoon to pick up the 6th Grade Handbell Choir. Together, we traveled to the main floor of the Outlets at Wind Creek Bethlehem, where we played our final program.
During the tour, our students were phenomenal. They unloaded and loaded all of the equipment and facilitated setup at each stop. At Gracedale Nursing Home, the students personally went around to each room of the residents, inviting them to our program, and assisted by pushing a wheelchair or offering an arm. I wish you all could have seen them spring into action and serve these people in need.
Our handbell groups worked hard for the past few months to make this event a success. Needless to say, each stop made their appreciation of our efforts well known. The holidays were brightened for many that don’t necessarily have much brightness in their lives.
Thank you to the Moravian Academy Middle School community – especially parents and teachers – for your support of this wonderful event!
