Middle & Upper School Vespers Service 2019
In what traditionally feels like the kick off to the holiday season at Moravian Academy, our students and faculty presented the community with a beautiful Middle and Upper School Vespers Service on Thursday evening. The service featured impressive musical and vocal performances as well as scripture readings that helped us herald in the season.
The service began with a beautiful prelude performed by 6th Grade Handbell Choir, Moravian Academy Handbell Ensemble, 7th Grade Handbell Choir, Moravian Academy Intermediate Ringers, 8th Grade Handbell Choir, and Moravian Academy Ringers. Choral performances throughout the service sung by Upper School Men's Chorus, Moravian Academy Chamber Singers, Upper School Women's Chorus, Moravian Academy Chorale, Middle School Chorus, and Combined Middle and Upper School Treble Chorus were outstanding.
Other musical highlights included a processional carol by trumpet players (Adam Boak '20, Samuel Carter '22, Adrian Vanegas '23, Madeline Golden '23, Nabeel Rifai '23, and Sam Greenberg '23) and trombone players (Alivia Humphreys '22, Nicholas Colitas '23, Benjamin Edelman '23, Wisdom Ufondu '23, Jack Perrucci '23, and alumnus Dylan Carter '19); violin accompaniment by Krysta Nichols '21, Elena Capobianco '23, and Kyla Manja '21; cello accompaniment by Sophie Lee '22; percussion accompaniment by Seyla Velez '21, Sophie Reynolds '21, Alex Adams '20, and Keith Lutostansky '21; and “Morning Star” performances featuring fifth-grade soloists Vivian John '25, Eric Weems '25, Oliver Ritchey '25, and Madeline Yang '25.
A very special thank you to Mr. Rob Riker, Mr. Nate Diehl, Dr. Richard Fanning, Mr. Ben Wallace, Mrs. Lou Carol Fix, Ms. Chase Morrison, Mrs. Laura Himic, Mrs. Patrice Kidd, and the entire music department for the incredible job they did preparing our students and orchestrating the many logistics required to bring this memorable service to fruition.
