This week, my eighth-grade math classes were engaged in a modern-day math "Escape Room"! As part of the simulation, students were tasked with decoding eight challenges in order to successfully finish their mission. After solving each challenge, a special code was revealed. To verify if the code was correct, decoders then had to unlock a physical or digital lock, find the code using a red lens viewer, or use a UV flashlight to read invisible ink.
The challenges involved a combination of finding information regarding the course syllabus, reviewing math skills, and learning more about their teacher. Students had a lot of fun collaborating to solve the challenges and especially enjoyed unlocking the fun prizes found at the conclusion of the activity.
Great job, "Math Escape Champs"!
