On Saturday, October 22, MA wood studio director and resident artist Mr. Matt Peitzman took part in the annual Bailey Wood Products' Wood Fair.
Event organizers invited him to attend and set up an informational area. He talked with patrons about how he's traveled the country learning and teaching guitar-building. And, of course, he shared how he teaches luthier skills to high school students. Other discussion topics included how characteristics of different tree species can effect a guitar, how science and math is incorporated, and artistic principles such as design.
Peitzman joined the Moravian Academy faculty in fall 2022, bringing with him 20 years of teaching experience. He has been recognized at the state level and nationally for his excellence in teaching. Building guitars has become one of his specialties after creating his first one in 2015. Since then, he has personally built 26 electric and 14 acoustic guitars, plus he has helped over 150 high school students design and build them.
