Neil Deshmukh '20 was invited for the second year for the FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics World Championship in Houston, TX, to conduct a two-hour hands-on workshop on artificial intelligence. Over 200 FIRST Team members and mentors attended the technical workshop.
He went through the basics of artificial intelligence, and then guided participants to create their own Deep Neural Network, Convolutional Neural Network, and Recurrent Neural Network. For each of these Neural Networks, attendees participated in a friendly private Kaggle competition Neil had set up. After the workshop, Neil received positive feedback and emails from the participants, including mentors from Google, Qualcomm, Lockheed Martin, and NASA as well as from the members of FIRST Robotics Teams.
