Students explore the splendors of the Merle-Smith Campus and partake in outdoor adventures during weekend trips as part of the Outdoor Education Program, which has been modified for the 2020-21 school year due to the pandemic.

On October 10, 2020, a small group of students and parents, joined by Profe Gonzalo del Real, enjoyed a beautiful hike along the Appalachian Trail in New Jersey to the glacial pond, Sunfish Pond, near Delaware Water Gap for the weekend trip

The weekday sessions have involved exploring the Upper School's Merle-Smith Campus through a series of activities, including:

  1. Tree Identification with consultation with Dr. Kish

  2. Information on the various buildings and areas to gain a historic understanding of the campus-information provide by Ms. Gemmel

  3. Students chose a tree to observe throughout the fall for changes (a deciduous tree)

  4. Students learned about the beehives and beekeeping from Mr. Elstein

  5. Students learned about the community garden from Mrs. Burd, and they help with maintenance of the garden

  6. Students began journaling activities that were introduced and explained by Mrs. Woodruff
