Pottery Cookies Using 12th Century Korean Inlay Techniques
April 29, 2022
Our fifth grade friends made pottery cookies after reading A Single Shard by Linda Sue Park, a novel about a 12th century Korean Potter.
In the novel, they learned about 12th century Korean pottery and traditional pottery techniques. Using cookie dough as their clay, fifth graders sculpted and shaped their tasty masterpieces. They etched designs into their edible pottery using crushed jolly ranchers to experiment with inlay techniques, just like the characters in the book.
After the pottery cookie designs were complete, our wonderful kitchen staff baked the cookies for us. Students were able to eat their delicious art later in the day!
