As part of our unit on rhyming, our Pre-K students listened to a video reading of The Magic Hat by Mem Fox.
The book, which is filled with rhyming words, tells the story of a hat that appears out of nowhere and creates magic every time it lands on someone's head. When wearing the hat, the townspeople in the book are transformed into different giant animals. Listen to the book below:
After listening to the book, in the spirit of Earth Day, the students were tasked with recycling items they have at their house (boxes, paper, bags, etc.) to construct their own magic hats. Students were also asked to use their imaginations to come up with what animal, person, or thing they would transform into when the hat was placed on their heads.
