Sixth Grade Adopts a Calf
We’ve got big moo-s, oops we mean big news! The sixth-grade science students have adopted a newborn calf named Violet through Discovery Dairy’s ‘Adopt a Cow’ program.
This past week, students were excited to meet Violet through email and pictures about her birth, the farm where she lives, and her farm family!
Discover Dairy’s ‘Adopt a Cow’ program introduces K-12 students to agriculture, family dairy farmers, responsible animal care, and sustainable farming practices. As we study ecology this year, we look forward to learning how farmers care for our planet through responsible farming and loving animal care.
Throughout this school year, students will receive email, photo, and video updates about Violet. And, at the end of the school year, we will live chat with Violet and farmer Katie Sattazahn of Zahncroft Dairy Farm in Womelsdorf, PA.
We’ll be sure to keep our Moravian Academy family updated as Violet grows up this year, too!
