Spanish 1 Gets into Character as Latinx Heroes

Students selected a Latinx hero to research, tasked with immersing themselves in the life of the person they chose before portraying that person in front of the class during presentations.

They spoke as if they were their chosen person relaying an autobiography, and in the near future will participate in a "mingle," chatting with their classmates and community members while in character. In order to succeed, students must research and remember many important details about their hero in order to accurately interact with one another without breaking character.

This is a great way for students to practice their public speaking skills, learn about the many societal and cultural contributions of Latinx people, and pull it all together with creativity.
