Student Led Conferences - February 6 & 7, 2020

Written by John Donecker | Dec 19, 2019 7:35:00 PM

During the past few weeks of school, middlers have been preparing for Student Led Conferences (SLCs).

Sixth, seventh and eighth graders have used portions of advisory and/or classroom periods to begin constructing a portfolio of work collected from their classes. Students have also set goals for each class and determined an action plan for how to reach these goals. Classroom teachers and the advisor have guided the students, step by step through the process. This year’s SLCs will occur on Thursday, February 6th (3:30 – 7:00 pm) and Friday, February 7th (8:00 am – 3:00 pm).

There is developmentally appropriate scaffolding of SLCs for all students. In sixth grade, the conference will be co-led by the student and his/her advisor. Both student and advisor will have the opportunity to share information with the parent(s). The seventh and eighth-grade conferences will be run predominantly by the student. Each student is expected to arrive prepared to present the majority of the information.

When we return in early January, each family will be sent a link by their student's advisor to sign up for conferences. In the email, you will find instructions to the link www.signupgenius.com, which is a scheduling platform that will allow you to choose and schedule your student’s conference. Each student will have a 30-minute time slot. Keep in mind that your child will be present when you confirm your conference time.
