Wednesday morning, the students in my senior English Sense of Place class gathered autumn leaves from the grounds around Snyder House.
Inspired by the artist Andy Goldsworthy, a British, land-based, site-specific artist, we set to work to create our own installation. The Alumni Circle is a man-made symbol and homage to our students and our history, and yet the Lenape land, and the glorious trees on our campus are inextricably linked with that history. The sunburst around the seal highlights that connection and reminds everyone who passes by of the natural world that surrounds us.
