Red, White, & Gold Games Day is happening this Friday, September 15! 

Students in grades 1-12 from all campuses have been assigned to the Red or the Gold Team. Faculty and staff will represent our third school color by wearing white. We're excited to have the Swain Campus join us for the Games for the very first time!

Swain and Historic Downtown teachers have shared with students their assigned color team. If you have questions about this, please reach out to your child's teacher for clarification. Merle-Smith students can view their team color on their MyMA contact card.

Friday is a dress down day for all campuses, and students should dress in their team color. While the dress code guidelines for the day vary by campus and grade division, here are some general reminders: 

• Do wear sunscreen and sunglasses

• Do wear your team color

• Do wear shorts that are fingertip-length or longer

• Do wear sneakers or athletics shoes (no open-toed shoes, flip flops, or Crocs)

We ask that all individuals refrain from using or throwing any kind of glitter, as it is difficult to clean up and has the potential to get in our eyes.

Please refer to the campus-specific details and guidelines communicated with families last week for more information. 

Historic Downtown and Swain students will be given a bandana and name tag at school the morning of the Games, which they should wear for the rest of the day. Merle-Smith students will also receive a bandana in their team color.

Students report to their home campus at the usual times and will board a bus for the Merle-Smith Campus later in the morning. At approximately 9:50 AM, the official welcome and pep rally will take place behind Snyder House, and then the Games begin! Activities include the Over Under Line Game & Pool Noodle Pass, the Cage Ball Race, and the Captain's Challenge Races. First grade will pair up with their Senior Buddies! 

At noon, everyone will break for lunch in the quad near Walter Hall. Then at 1:00 PM, we will gather at Alumni Circle where Head of School Adrianne Finley Odell will announce the winning team of the 2023 Red, White, & Gold Games. Shortly after, Historic Downtown and Swain students will board the buses back to their home campuses. Historic Downtown and Swain students will be dismissed from their home campus at their regular dismissal times. Merle-Smith Campus students are dismissed at 1:30 PM.
