8th Grade Science students have been engaged in a study of Bath Bombs this year.
The bubbling action of both store-bought and homemade bath bombs has inspired us to look at where the gas is coming from and, in the process, begin learning more about chemical reactions. It has been a fun process of asking questions about the phenomena we see and then coming up with ways to test our ideas. This week students have been learning about the ingredients that make up the bath bombs. The photos show students testing combinations of the ingredients to see which ones contribute to the formation of the gas. As we move forward, we’ll take a careful look at the gas and try to identify the type of gas that is produced by the bath bomb.
