Athletic News Update: October 11th, 2019
The regular season for our fall sports teams has ended, but with all of our programs still involved in post-season play, there is plenty of excitement around campus.
The girls’ varsity tennis team finished off the week in great fashion as they defeated Bethlehem Catholic by a score of 5-0 to win the District XI AA Tennis Championship! The girls will now move on to the PIAA Team tournament set to start on Tuesday, October 22nd at a site and time to be determined. Congratulations to the girls and coaches on a great result!
Our golf team could not repeat as the District XI Champions as our team earned a silver medal losing by only three strokes this past Monday at the Steel Club in Hellertown. Evan Eichenlaub '23 earned a fifth-place finish while Grace Sanborn '21 earned a silver medal and received the automatic qualification to the East Individual Regional Championship. The event will take place on Monday, October 14th at Golden Oaks Golf Club in Fleetwood. Congratulations to the team on another fantastic season!
The varsity boys’ soccer team also finished the regular season this week. The boys’ final regular-season record stands at 16-1 and 11-1 in league play. Field Hockey’s regular season also concluded with a 16-2 overall record and a 15-1 league record.
The boys’ and girls’ cross-country teams ran in their last regular season meet this past Tuesday at Northwestern. The boys’ team’s final league record stands at 12-12 and the girls’ record is 11-13. The Colonial League Championship meet is set to take place on Thursday, October 17th at DeSales University. The Boys’ race will begin at 3 pm followed by the Girls’ race at 3:45 pm. The District XI Cross Country Championships are set for Wednesday, October 23rd at DeSales University. The Boys 1A race will begin at 1 pm followed by the Girls 1A race at 1:40 pm.

Girls’ Soccer earned a #3 seed in the tournament after defeating Southern Lehigh in dramatic fashion. Grace Sanborn '21 who has been keeping busy on the links and fields, scored the game-winner in the last minute of play to hand the Spartans their first League loss of the season. The Varsity Girls’ Soccer team finished the regular season with a 9-3 league record and 14-3 overall record.

District competitions are also on the mind of our field hockey, girls’ soccer and boys’ soccer teams. Following the conclusion of league tournament action, the teams’ focus will shift on winning more District titles.
