The Lions’ teams have started October the way they ended September! The teams continue to experience success on the field with some impressive individual performances.

Evan Eichenlaub '23, Joe Smith '23, and Keeler Nichols '20 competed in the District XI Golf qualifiers and all earned a spot to participate in this upcoming District XI golf Championship. The team will look to repeat as the District XI Team Champion. The event is set to take place at the Steel Club in Hellertown on Monday, October 7 starting at 9:00 am. Good luck to all of the golfers!

The Girls’ Varsity Tennis team took some time off from team competitions. However, our players represented Moravian quite well in the District XI singles tournament. Miranda Gibson '20 lost in the semi-finals while Isabella Bartolacci '22 defeated Saucon Valley’s Julia Hernandez to earn the gold medal. Isabella competed hard to win in three sets to become the District XI AA Singles Champion. The team now focuses on the District Team competition and will host Saucon Valley on Monday, October 7 at 4:00 pm in the first round.

The Varsity Boys’ Soccer team continues to roll after posting three strong performances this past week. Their overall record is 14-1 and the team has qualified for both the Colonial League and District XI playoffs. On Saturday, October 5, we will take the opportunity to recognize our seniors before the beginning of their home game vs. Southern Lehigh. The ceremony will start at 1:45 pm with the game set to kick-off at 2:00 pm.

This was also a big week for the varsity girls’ soccer team as they earned three victories. The highlight of the week was a 2-1 result over Salisbury High School on a rainy Thursday afternoon. This outcome secured a playoff spot for the Lions in the upcoming Colonial League girls’ soccer playoffs. The team will also recognize their seniors on Saturday, October 5 before their home game vs. Notre Dame of East Stroudsburg. The ceremony will start at 3:30 pm following the varsity boys’ soccer game.

The Varsity Field Hockey team will look to finish a successful week as they host Bangor on Saturday 10/5 at 3 pm on Pidcock field. The team posted two impressive results over Colonial League foes defeating Northern Lehigh (6-0) and Palisades (6-2). The field hockey senior day is set for Monday, October 7 following their game vs. Wilson high school. The ceremony will start at around 5:15 pm.

The Boys’ and Girls’ Cross-Country teams have one regular-season meet to finish their season. The teams will compete at Northwestern Lehigh on Tuesday. The boys’ team’s record currently stands at 10-11 and the girls’ record is 9-12. The runners will look to have one final strong performance before focusing their efforts on the league championship meet. The meet is set to take place on Wednesday, October 16 at DeSales University.
