ATHLETIC NEWS UPDATE – SEPTEMBER 20, 2019

This past week has been busy for our Upper School athletic teams.

Our Varsity Golf program wrapped up its regular season with a solid performance with a victory over Saucon Valley by a 414-446 score. Coach Higgins’ group has returned to full strength and is looking forward to the Colonial League Golf Championship that will take place on Monday, September 23 at Bethlehem Municipal Golf Course starting at 9 am. Good luck to the team as they look to secure their 6th consecutive Colonial League title!

The Girls’ Varsity Tennis team is currently 8-2 overall. The team will look to finish the week strong as they recognize their seniors before taking on Notre Dame of Green Pond on Friday. The team will close out the week as they travel to Parkland High School for a Saturday morning non-league competition. The Colonial League Tennis Championship is set for Thursday, September 26 at Saucon Valley High School starting at noon.

The Boys’ Varsity Soccer overall record is currently 8-1. The team will look to rebound from a tough loss to Northwestern Lehigh on Thursday as they face Kutztown on Saturday at home to close out the week. Varsity game is set for 10 am with the Junior Varsity to follow at 11:30 am.   The team currently sits in third place in the Colonial League with a 6-1 league mark.

The Girls’ Varsity Field Hockey team is also enjoying a successful season. The team‘s record is 8-0, posting strong victories over Colonial League rivals Bangor and Salisbury this week. The team's victory over Bangor occurred in dramatic fashion as the team tied the score with 29 seconds left in regulation and followed by scoring in Overtime to secure the win. The team will finish the week as they travel to Southern Lehigh for a 4 pm game.

The Boys’ and Girls’ Cross Country teams have reached the middle of their meet season. The boys’ team is currently 6-6 with the girls’ team at 5-7.  After some strong individual performances in the Centaur Invitational last weekend, the teams look poised to continue to improve. The Colonial League Championships will take place at DeSales University on Wednesday, October 16 with the District XI meet to follow on Wednesday, October 23.

The Girls’ Soccer Team experienced a set back in the Colonial League as they were defeated by Northwestern. The team will look to bounce back quickly as they face Wilson for a Saturday morning match-up. Kickoff time is set for 10 am. The team’s overall record is 6-2 with a 5-2 league record.
