Virtual All-School Global Language Chapel
There’s a story in the Bible where the Apostle Peter is speaking to the members of the early church and a miracle happens; the Holy Spirit descends upon the room in wind and fire and suddenly everyone in the room can speak and listen in one another’s languages. Christians still celebrate this day as Pentecost, or the birthday of the church.
The ability to communicate across difference is always a bit of a miracle, perhaps one we appreciate now more than ever after months of social distancing, social discord, and social upheaval. Which is why our annual Global Language Chapel tradition seemed especially important this year, and especially beautiful. Students and adults from all across our school, sharing in the languages we love, both those we learn at school and live at home. And because it was virtual (like all our chapels this year), we are pleased to invite you to join in the celebration/celebracion/feier/fête/庆典/احتفال/उत्सव/חֲגִיגָה/εορτασμός.
We are especially proud of the new French translation of the Moravian Academy School Prayer by our advanced French students at the Upper School (DeDee Hoffman '21, Pepper Ritchey '21, Grace Sanborn '21, and Mme Kim Sanborn) and the new German translation of our traditional Birthday Prayer by Linnea Crouch ’25.
Please enjoy our 2021 Virtual All School Global Language Chapel. A special thank you goes to our Global Language and Spanish Immersion faculty members who work miracles every day, helping us learn to communicate with one another, and to the many student volunteers who collaborated on this service.
