You never know what kind of interesting projects are underway in the wood shop, like this end table infused with Moravian history.
Izzy Tran '24 has been crafting a small end table with an organic natural top encased in resin. What makes this project extra special is the source of the wood in the table top — it is Moravian historical wood that comes from behind the Central Moravian Church's office. She sanded it to bring out its natural beauty
Izzy is still finishing her table, but she gave us a preview as she created the resin cast, which she made by building and painting a containment box to hold the liquid so that the release agent could do its job (i.e. preventing the resin from sticking to things that it shouldn't).
She hot glued the future table top to the bottom of the box. Next, she mixed the two-part resin together and poured it into the box covering the future table top. This what's pictured in the video.
We can't wait to see how this table turns out!
