The goal of remote learning is to keep students connected to their class and teacher and to make sure students maintain academic progress as best they can while away from the classroom. Please note that remote learning for individuals is not intended to be a substitute for in-person learning. Teachers will work with students to address specific circumstances related to tests, papers, and other assignments that fall due while the student is away from school.
Preschool - 8th Grade
A continuous learning plan will be provided for students who are unable to attend school due to COVID-19-related symptoms, quarantines, and isolation. Please note that if a child has symptoms that do not pass the app (such as cold symptoms) and needs to be out of school for more than 1 day, they too can access our quarantine learning. Of course, if a child is too sick to access learning, they should focus on rest and recovery so they can return to school. Here are the components of continuous learning that families can expect:
The first day of absence will not include instruction to allow the teacher to prepare material to share with the student for subsequent days. Teachers will also pack school iPads or materials as needed for pick up on this day.
Students will join morning meetings or advisory live to begin their day interacting with peers and their class using a link provided by the homeroom teacher or advisor.
Assignments for academic courses will be shared and completed asynchronously and shared via Google Classroom or SeeSaw each day. Completed work should be returned to the teacher electronically for feedback within the school day.
Daily check-ins will occur with absent students via the homeroom teacher, advisor, or another school administrator (starting on day 2, as needed). Time will be designated by the teacher and shared with the student or family.
For specials courses, teachers will compile resources by division to share with students to work on asynchronously. Those items can be turned in electronically or in person upon the student’s return to school as applicable.
9th - 12th Grade
Students will receive emails from their teachers to check-in and provide instructions for the next class. Students filtered out by Ruvna or in quarantine or isolation can also expect to have access to either a) recorded versions of direct instruction or b) lecture/class notes shared by the teacher. This content will be shared directly with students or posted on the class page by the teacher. Students are also able to meet with their teachers virtually during office hours for support and extra help. Office hours are scheduled during Community Time, each afternoon from 3:15-3:45, and other times specific to each faculty member.
