During a Merle-Smith Campus assembly on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, alumnus and veteran Ethan Green '11SS, 15MA joined students and faculty via Zoom.
A Swain and Moravian alumnus, Green was actively involved in science and civic service while in high school and pursued that passion through college at Wake Forest University, where he enrolled in ROTC.
He commissioned in 2019 with a degree in biology before matriculating into the Uniformed Services University and earning his master of science degree in the field of emerging infectious disease.1 He researched Ebola, malaria, tick borne encephalopathies, and helped develop a SARS COV 2 vaccine.
Now, he serves at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and will soon be taking over as chief of bacteriology, mycology, and parasitology.
Thank you, Ethan, for your service to our country and for generously sharing your story and time with current students.
