After studying Mesopotamia and the development of Southwest Asia, Swain fifth grade had the opportunity to practice writing their names in cuneiform (the first known system of writing).

They learned all about scribes and the advanced society of the Fertile Crescent. Students quickly realized our alphabet is significantly less complex than the original alphabet, as writing just our first names took over 20 minutes for most students!
