Second-grade students began their government simulation this week by coming up with three things they are passionate about on the Swain Campus. Miss Buczynski took that information and assigned each student to a committee. Along with their committee assignments students were deemed as either a legislator or senator.
Session began on Wednesday, February 15, 2023. Senators and legislators gathered in their committee to discuss their thoughts and opinions on areas they thought they could improve.
After the legislators and senators discuss more, they will begin to write their own bills. When the bills are ready, they will be shared with the House of Representatives and Senate. If the bill is passed, they will discuss and debate the bill again in the other part of Congress.
This is truly an amazing experience for students as they learn to have healthy and respectful debates, learn public speaking, and understand how Congress functions. The Senators and Legislators are so excited to see if their bills are signed by President Buczynski.
