Each year, around 1,000 students in grades 6th through 12th from Pennsylvania, Southern New Jersey and Delaware, participate in the Delaware Valley Science Fair (DVSF).
Moravian Academy was well-represented for this year’s event. Fifteen Upper School students competed for top prizes in different STEM categories. These students had done their experiments and gathered their data. They were ready to present at the Lehigh Valley Science Fair, but that got cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, the students were allowed to submit their projects to the DVSF in virtual form, where their experiments were reviewed by a panel of judges.

Mikail Jaffer ’22: Building a cost-effective autonomous unmanned aerial vehicle; Second Place in Engineering
Samit Mohapatra ’22: Microplastic and nanoplastic removal from water by activated carbon made from eaves; Second Place in Environmental Science
Rhea Malhotra ’20: Developing a cell sorter for CTCs using surface acoustic waves; Honorable Mention in Medicine and Health
Neha Skandon ’21: A mathematical model to predict optimized solutions to mitigate the opiod crisis; Honorable Mention in Mathematics
Michael Alchaer ’23: K-nearest and support vector liver cancer detection using (MRI’s); Honorable Mention in Medicine and Health
Wisdom Ufondu ’23: Repairing holes in the Ozone Layer through the electrolysis of water; Honorable Mention in Physics
